A lovely porcelain snuff box - hand painted - square shape with a hinged lid – great contention with very minimal wear to picture – slight wear to gold scrolling – some trace corrosion to patina on metal box edge liner - measures approx. 2 1/2" by 2 1/2". The box stands on 4 gild dabbed legs, bringing it to a height of 2 1/2" - no markers mark – great piece!
Factories in the Limoges region of France were famous for their hand painting, but their primary output was molded white ware. These undecorated pieces, or 'blanks,' were then taken to be decorated elsewhere in France or exported as white china - this piece maybe painted in Germany?
