Baltic amber is fossil resin produced by pine trees which grew in Northern Europe about 40-60 million years ago. In the course of time the resin was transformed to amber due to processes of polymerization and oxidation - Apache tears are pieces of obsidian or volcanic glass. When held in the palm of your hand, the stone appears to be black. When held to the light, you are able to see through the stone.
