John Quincy Adams was the sixth President of the United States, serving from 1825 to 1829. Born in Braintree, Massachusetts on July 11, 1767, Adams was the son of John Adams, t he second U.S. President. He was a diplomat and served as Minister to several European countries before becoming President. During his presidency, Adams focused on modernizing infrastructure, establishing the National Observatory and promoting American com merce.
After leaving office, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served until his death on February 23, 1848. Adams was a strong advocate for abolition and played a key role in the passage of the Tariff of 1828, also known as the "Tariff of Abominations." He is remembered for his dedication to American ideals and his commitment to preserving the Union.
